Eric Chen is a young socialite who was the victim of a traumatic kidnapping by two suspects. The abduction was to extort his tycoon father, Harold Chen, for millions, which was successfully paid for his release. Eric soon checked himself into an institution for psychotherapeutic treatment, scarred by the ordeal. One of the criminals, blue-collar Richard Nelson, was found murdered, and the team soon realized the connection between his death and his large change is wealth was Eric. Eric was personally visited by Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles, sympathetically telling him what happened and talking him through his witness testimony. They stopped when he flashed back too much, but he gave enough to identify the other kidnapper and Nelson's killer, Billy Skolnick. Skolnick was soon arrested, and after Eric was told the news, his sister, Lucy, rejoiced with him in hopes he'd much better recover from his trauma now that closure was met.
